init can be in one of eight run levels, 0-6 and S or s (S and s are identical). The run level changes when a privileged user runs /sbin/init. init 0 : Shutdown (goes thru the /etc/rc0.d/* scripts then halts) Init can be in one of eight runlevels: 0 through 6, and S or s. In some ways much like SysV I know that in Solaris 10 there is a way to tell a system running solaris 10 to init 0 and then boot disk1 all in the same command line from a SSH window.
